food blog: Popolamama

One day in August 2014 (OK I know it was 2 months ago), my super busy best friend (and her hubby) and I finally got to make this quick catch up on a Sunday afternoon at Grand Indonesia (where else can you meet a friend and wait comfortably in Jakarta other than the malls?). Planning to have lunch meeting since the start, she pointed out (as usual, I follow what she wants, this time especially because she’s preggers! Yay!) a new restaurant located on Floor 3A (for those of you who don’t know, some developer in Indonesia still believe that the number 4 brings you bad luck so they numbered the 4th floor 3A instead) named “Popolamama“. You can see their timeline on Twitter: @Popolamama_ID.

The restaurant has this special vibe, decorated with garden-like benches, matched with the location where the ceiling is pretty high and well-sunlit, makes you feel like you’re on a picnic in a garden. The menu is Italian-Japanese fusion. You can find ranges of pizza and pasta topped with Japanese-style sauce and mushrooms. I ordered pepperoni pizza (long live carnivore!) while my friend ordered spaghetti aglio olio. The pizza was nicely thin, but undercooked IMO that it’s pretty hard to hold because it felt wet in the middle. The spaghetti was OK but a bit oily that you will get nauseous having too much of it.

All in all, I’m giving 2.5 out of 5 stars for this restaurant. Plus point for the comfortable place to hang out with family and friends. 🙂
